‘I’ve been struggling all 12 months. I do not need to undergo right here’ – Tom Pidcock earns a stage victory at Gravel Burn whereas Matt Beers holds lead with two days to go


Tom Pidcock (Q36.5 Professional Biking) made his presence recognized at Nedbank Gravel Burn on Thursday’s stage 5, attacking on the 17km gravel ascent to the summit end at Swaershoek Cross within the Japanese Cape of South Africa. Matt Beers (Specialised Off-Highway Toyota) retained his general lead, having received three of the opening 5 phases and putting fifth behind Pidcock.

On the ladies’s aspect of the seven-day stage race, Axelle Dubau-Prevot (Numero 31 par Cafe du Cycliste/Pinarello) matched Beers along with her third stage win, however it was not sufficient to regain her early GC lead, now held by Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (AG Insurance coverage Soudal) who completed third on the day.
